I had a similar ritual with my dad is the spring when the track results would come out in the paper. I'd call him from Texasexas and tell him how "Belived Brown from Beaumont Central had run the 100m in 11.58" and he'd tell me about some girl from Carthage who was triple jumpling 38 feet or something.....sigh
